What to Eat to Lose Weight

How many times have you heard someone say that eating more often is the way to lose weight or how to gain lean muscle? It has been stated that this technique promises more calories burned, to increase metabolism or faster protein supply for your body. However, it has not been scientifically proven that this plan works for weightloss.

If you’re wondering how to burn more calories, keep reading. First, let’s look at facts. You do burn calories whenever you eat anything. Reason being, in order to break down and digest the food you intake, your body has to work hard. Your body has to work hard for a lot of things: exercise, digestion, breathing, sleeping, walking, thinking and basically every bodily function.

Essentially, the amount of energy your body burns really depends on the food that you eat. There are different nutrients in the food and beverage that we consume. You have macronutrients and micronutrients. Ideally, it is recommended that you always eat nutrient-dense foods. That means that your meals should have a portion of each nutrient in it.

Macronutrients are: carbohydrates, protein and fats. Micronutrients are: vitamins and minerals. Protein requires the most energy to break down. Next are carbohydrates and then fats. That is why a diet high in protein is so beneficial. The more protein you consume, the more your body has to work to break it down, so in essence your body works harder, uses more energy and burns a lot of calories because of this.

It’s not so important to focus so hard on how many meals a day you should eat. You should prioritize and worry about what you eat. You can choose to eat less number of meals that are larger or more meals that are smaller. It’s really up to what works for you and your lifestyle.

Get the most nutrients within your calorie requirements and learn how to avoid junk foods and eat more foods that are rich in nutrients, such as fruits, vegetables, and whole-grains and lean proteins. Focus on good food quality, appropriate calorie-intake, and moderate portion sizes.

Do you want to know what you should worry about in order to begin losing weight? Focus on what you’re actually eating. As long as you’re eating nutrient-balanced meals and consuming the appropriate amount of calories for your goal, you’ll be on the right track.

Once you get rid of the supposed “rules” and “myths” that exist about dieting, you’ll feel more in control and confident in your weight journey. It will no longer be a burden to try and follow your diet plans because you’ll be eating according to your lifestyle and your preferences.
